Kanha National Park- A travellers insight

Kanha is rich in biodiversity and has abundant wildlife species.

Not many people know that Kanha National park is divided equally into 4 zones and one is permitted only a drive through of 45 minutes to reach another zone and if caught by a Forest official the drivers and the guides permit into the Park is at jeopardy. This is to ensure Jeeps do not rush to one spot and the park is thus easily maintained.

The park has recently increased its boundaries and pushed the entry and exit gates out of within the park.

Kanha zone is the premium zone and the entry fee while booking is higher than other zones. If travelling in groups it will help reduce the cost of the jeep and guide. Also, do book atleast a month in advance because 80 % is mostly advance booking.

They say Tiger sightings in Kisli and Kanha zones are better than the other 2 zones largely due to the tigers being accustomed to Gypsy and human traffic frequenting the premium zones.

The forest officials have recently stopped the Elephant safaris.

Another point to note is the that Guides are allotted at the entrance just before the start of the safari and they reside in local villages so possess little or no knowledge of english. If you want a guide who can converse in English then do check with your resort for the same.
